Intravenous (IV) thrombolysis with alteplase or tenecteplase is an established treatment for patients with acute ischemic stroke who can be treated within 4.5 hours. To learn whether an IV antiplatelet agent would have additional benefit after thrombolysis, researchers in China conducted a placebo-controlled study of patients with noncardioembolic stroke who met criteria for IV thrombolysis but did not qualify for thrombectomy.
