In a recent study, researchers found that vestibular suppressant prescriptions (e.g., benzodiazepines, antiemetics) were associated with significantly higher risk for injurious falls among older adults with dizziness (NEJM JW Gen Med Jul 1 2025 and J Am Geriatr Soc 2025; 73:1398). Now, the same researchers conducted an analysis exclusively focused on meclizine — a commonly prescribed vestibular suppressant — to examine whether receipt of meclizine among adults with new dizziness was associated with subsequent injurious falls.
