Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is associated with excess risk for adverse cardiovascular events and death. Positive airway pressure (PAP) therapy is recommended for most patients to improve sleep and quality of life, but whether it can lower cardiovascular and mortality risk has been unclear. Investigators conducted a multicenter, observational, prospective study that involved 5400 patients (74% men) with confirmed OSA. Patients who received PAP and were adherent to treatment were compared with those who were not adherent or did not receive PAP.
