Potent combination antiretroviral therapy has resulted in dramatic improvements in morbidity and mortality, but virologic and immunologic response rates vary by patient demographics, mode of HIV acquisition, disease stage, and psychosocial stressors. To evaluate how responses to antiretroviral therapy have changed over time, investigators analyzed data from a diverse cohort of 2386 individuals who had acquired HIV sexually and had received care between July 1, 1999, and December 31, 2004, at a large London clinic.
