Improvements in long-term prognosis as a result of potent combination antiretroviral therapy (ART) have led to a shift in the clinical burden of HIV disease — from traditional AIDS-defining conditions to more-standard health problems, such as coronary heart disease (CHD; ACC Jul 30 2007).
