The 15th Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections (CROI) took place February 3–6 this year in cool, rainy Boston. As with previous meetings held in this city, the weather was of little concern; most of the nearly 4000 attendees could walk to the Hynes Convention Center from their hotels via covered walkways. CROI holds a special place among the major HIV meetings in its extensive coverage of basic, clinical, and social sciences — and this year’s conference was no disappointment.
