In the general population, the prevalence of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection has stabilized and is expected to decline. What are the trends in HCV testing and prevalence among HIV-infected individuals?
Researchers studied 7618 HIV-infected patients who participated in the HOPS cohort any time between 1996 and 2007. During the study period, the demographics of the cohort shifted, with injection-drug users (IDUs) accounting for 15% of all participants in 1996 versus only 9% in 2007.
