Switching PI-Based ART to a Single-Tablet Regimen — Safe and Effective

Switching to tenofovir/FTC/rilpivirine from a boosted protease inhibitor–based regimen worked well, according to data presented at AIDS 2012.

Tenofovir/FTC + rilpivirine has been shown in clinical trials to be noninferior to efavirenz + two nucleosides and is approved as a single-tablet regimen (Complera) for use in treatment-naive patients. Is it also a safe and effective option for patients looking to switch from multi-pill, protease inhibitor (PI)-based regimens?
