Glucagon-like peptide-1–receptor agonists (GLP-1s) have emerged as a promising treatment for children and adolescents with obesity or type 2 diabetes, although concerns about real-world safety — including risk for depression and suicidality — have been raised.
A new meta-analysis of 18 randomized, controlled trials comparing GLP-1s with placebo assessed 23 different efficacy and safety outcomes in 1400 participants from 6 to 17 years old. The median treatment duration was 6 months, with a median follow-up of 2 months.
