Chagas disease, a protozoan infection endemic to much of Latin America, has become a global health concern because of population migration. The infection is often initially asymptomatic but can manifest decades later with serious consequences, including cardiomyopathy and digestive disorders. Unfortunately, clinicians in nonendemic countries may not be familiar with these late manifestations, leading to delayed or missed diagnoses. Updated global prevalence estimates from 1990 through 2023 underscore the need for greater awareness.
