The industry-funded GUSTO V trial randomized patients with acute myocardial infarction to receive either standard-dose reteplase or the combination of half-dose reteplase and standard-dose abciximab. Although the trial was not designed to evaluate sex differences in outcome, the comprehensive data allowed a robust examination of this issue.
