Teaching direct laryngoscopy can be difficult because the instructor and learner do not share the same view of the airway. As a result, the learner receives no real-time feedback. The Storz video laryngoscope incorporates a fiber-optic camera lens into an otherwise conventional laryngoscope blade to provide a video image that can be viewed simultaneously by learner and supervisor. These authors evaluated the benefits of instruction using the Storz video laryngoscope.
