Use of acetaminophen is virtually ubiquitous for treatment of fever in children, particularly because of past concerns about an association between aspirin use and Reye syndrome, but is acetaminophen safe? As part of the International Study of Asthma and Allergies in Childhood Phase Three project, researchers performed a multivariate analysis of parent-questionnaire data for 205,487 children aged 6 to 7 years from 73 centers in 31 countries to determine whether use of acetaminophen for fever during the first year of life is associated with an increased risk for childhood asthma.
