Maintaining procedural skills and acquiring new ones pose a challenge for practicing emergency physicians. This study evaluated the efficacy of Web-based teaching of ultrasound-guided placement of central lines, peripheral intravenous lines, and arterial lines.
Twenty-one staff and resident EPs who had no previous training in ultrasound-guided vascular access (UGVA) were randomized to Web-based or didactic training. Before training, each participant’s knowledge of UGVA was tested with a written exam; scores were similar in the two groups.
