Medication ordering errors and practice variability are common. Paper or electronic decision support aids can make care safer and more consistent. These authors examined compliance with recommended procedures for pediatric procedural sedation before and after an academic center in Louisiana instituted use of a preprinted (paper) packet of required documents, including physician order form, consent form, procedure note, and sedation monitoring form.
