Dear Readers,
The editors of Journal Watch Emergency Medicine are pleased to provide our second annual top stories lists. As was the case last year, we have compiled two lists: The Editors' Choice list represents the 10 stories that our editors believe are the most important to you and your practices, and the Most Read Online list is based on your interests and reflects the 10 most frequently viewed stories of the year.
The lists differ, as they did last year, in part because measuring reader “hits” automatically biases for stories published early in the year. In addition, our editors identify stories that are most likely to influence practice, whereas readers often select stories that answer a particular question, address a controversy, or confirm a particular belief.
We hope that you will peruse these lists and consider reading the stories, even if you have read them before. Feel free to suggest other important stories of the year by sending us an email at jwem@mms.org or use the Reader Remarks feature at the bottom of this letter.
With best wishes for 2010,
