The double-blind, randomized, controlled Canadian Bronchiolitis Epinephrine Steroid Trial (CanBEST) reported that a combination of nebulized epinephrine plus oral dexamethasone for outpatient treatment of bronchiolitis in infants (age range, 6 weeks to 12 months) was associated with a 9% absolute reduction and a 35% relative reduction in the rate of hospital admission within 7 days, compared with placebo (JW Emerg Med May 13 2009). However, differences were not significant after adjustment for multiple comparisons.
