Dear Readers,
The editors of Journal Watch Emergency Medicine are pleased to provide our third annual top stories lists. Each year, we compile two lists: The Editors' Choice list represents the 10 stories that our editors believe are the most important to you and your practices, and the Most Read Online list provides the 10 most frequently viewed stories of the year.
The lists differ, in part because measuring the number of reader “hits” automatically biases for stories published early in the year. In addition, our editors identify stories that they feel are most likely to influence practice, whereas readers often select stories that answer a particular question or resolve a certain controversy.
We hope that you will find the stories represented on the lists enlightening and will consider reading them, even if you have read them before. Feel free to suggest other important stories from 2010 to your colleagues by using the Reader Remarks feature at the bottom of this letter.
With best wishes for 2011,
