To assess the optimal target blood pressure (BP) for patients with acute coronary syndromes (ACS), researchers analyzed data for 4162 patients who were enrolled in an international randomized trial of two statins within 10 days after an ACS event. BP was measured at 30 days, 4 months, and every 4 months thereafter for up to 36 months (average follow-up, 24 months). The primary outcome was the composite of death, myocardial infarction, unstable angina requiring hospitalization, revascularization after 30 days, and stroke.
