All lots of Hylenex recombinant (hyaluronidase human injection) are being recalled by Baxter International Inc. because small particles of glass were found in some vials during routine stability testing, the FDA announced on Wednesday.
Hylenex is used as an aid in subcutaneous fluid administration and to help the body absorb other injected medications. Roughly 3500 vials of the drug are currently in the marketplace, according to Baxter. The company will be contacting customers directly to seek return of the vials.
There have been no adverse medical events reported so far.
