The exponential rise in the number of published guidelines has brought wide variation in guideline-development processes and in content. The Guidelines International Network (G-I-N; includes 93 organizations in 46 countries) identified 11 relevant components (table) that are integral to practical, high-quality, balanced practice guidelines published for clinicians and other stakeholders. These standards will permit users of guidelines to measure them against other similar published works.
