Background: Aspergillosis has become an important cause of life-threatening infection among immunosuppressed patients, especially lung, combined heart/lung, and allogeneic hematopoietic stem-cell transplant recipients. In such patients, aspergillosis presents often as an angioinvasive pulmonary process and occasionally as a sinonasal infection; infection can also disseminate to the central nervous system and other extrapulmonary sites.
