Norovirus accounts for 30% to 50% of foodborne outbreaks of acute gastroenteritis (AGE) in the U.S. Many foodborne outbreaks are thought to be linked to food handlers, but proving an association is often impossible. Researchers recently investigated an outbreak of AGE among rafters in the Grand Canyon in September 2005. To do so, they examined the records of area rafting companies and the National Park Service from August 14 through September 19 of that year.
