High levels of population immunity are required to prevent measles outbreaks. Mass vaccination campaigns have been used to supplement routine vaccination programs, but how often are these expensive campaigns needed? To find out, investigators assessed population immunity to measles 3 years after a supplemental vaccination campaign in Zambia.
In this cross-sectional survey, households were randomly selected from a satellite image. Young children (ages 9 months to 5 years) living in these households were eligible for enrollment.
