Between 2005 and mid-2007, three vaccines were added to the adolescent immunization schedule, with the recommendation that they be administered at ages 11 or 12: conjugate meningococcal vaccine (MenACWY), acellular pertussis vaccine combined with tetanus and diphtheria toxoids vaccine (Tdap), and human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine. Now, CDC investigators report uptake of those vaccines from 2006 through 2009.
Using annual random-digit dial surveys, the researchers queried parents of adolescents aged 13–17 about their children's vaccination histories and obtained consent to collect additional data from the children's healthcare providers.
