Understanding factors that are associated with high-risk sexual activity is critical to slowing the spread of HIV infection as well as other sexually transmitted diseases. Sexual concurrency (overlapping sexual partnerships in which sexual relationships with one partner occur between acts of intercourse with another partner) is believed to be one such factor; however, information about this practice is limited. Now, researchers have made use of social media websites to recruit U.S. men who have sex with men (MSM) nationwide and then to assess the incidence of sexual concurrency in this population.
