Recent reports have raised concerns about late stent thrombosis with the use of drug-eluting stents (DES), particularly for off-label indications. In this National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute Dynamic Registry analysis, investigators compared outcomes in 1763 patients who received at least one DES (for an on-label or off-label indication) with outcomes in 1460 patients who received at least one bare-metal stent (BMS) shortly before DES became routinely available.
