Strategies to reduce the rate of readmission after hospitalization for heart failure (HF) are of keen interest, especially since the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services began public reporting of risk-adjusted readmission rates. A recent systematic review suggested a beneficial effect of remote monitoring programs for HF patients. However, studies of such programs have typically been small and of poor methodological quality.
