In the HORIZONS-AMI trial (JW Cardiol May 6 2009), involving 3006 patients undergoing primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for ST-segment-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), the rate of ischemic target-lesion revascularization (TLR) at 12 months was 4.5% in drug-eluting stent (DES) recipients versus 7.5% in bare-metal stent (BMS) recipients (P=0.003). Now, the HORIZONS-AMI investigators have retrospectively assessed 2-year revascularization rates as well as the effects of a planned 13-month angiographic follow-up in half of the patients enrolled.
