Numerous clinical, angiographic, and genetic factors are associated with stent thrombosis, which complicates percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in a small percentage of patients despite adherence to dual antiplatelet therapy. In an attempt to identify the relevance of these factors to risk prediction, investigators in France conducted a registry-based study using DNA samples from 123 patients with definite early stent thrombosis unrelated to cessation of dual antiplatelet therapy and 246 controls with the same mean age (63) and the same proportion of women (20%) as cases.
