Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for unprotected distal left main lesions is often technically challenging, especially when stents are required for both the left anterior descending and circumflex arteries. In this randomized multicenter trial, investigators compared the double kissing (DK) crush and culotte stenting techniques using Firebird-2 or Xience V devices. In the DK crush, a short extension of the side-branch stent into the main branch is “crushed” against the arterial wall and opened with a balloon before the main-branch stent is deployed, then simultaneous repeat balloon inflation in both stents (“double kiss”) opens the bifurcation.
