Calcipotriol, a synthetic vitamin D analog, is a highly effective treatment for psoriasis and has been reported to be effective for a variety of disorders of keratinization. However, none of the reported trials have been controlled. Researchers in Denmark performed a randomized, double-blind, vehicle-controlled, right/left comparative study of calcipotriol in the treatment of 67 patients with a variety of keratinizing disorders, including ichythyosis vulgaris (9), X-linked ichthyosis (8), a heterogeneous group of congenital ichythyoses (10), palmoplantar keratoderma (20), keratosis pilaris (9), and Darier's disease (11).
