Tazarotene is a topical retinoid approved for use in psoriasis, but therapy can be limited by skin irritation. Corticosteroids are also effective in psoriasis and have anti-inflammatory effects. This manufacturer-sponsored study evaluated the combination of tazarotene gel with either placebo or a low-, mid-, or high-potency corticosteroid cream (fluocinolone acetonide 0.01%, mometasone furoate 0.1%, or fluocinonide 0.05%, respectively). Three hundred patients with plaque psoriasis were treated twice daily for 12 weeks.
