Acanthosis nigricans (AN) is sometimes associated with obesity and with elevated insulin levels. The type B insulin resistance syndrome is one of a class of diseases in which an autoantibody is formed against a cell surface receptor — in this case, autoantibodies to the insulin receptor. The authors of this case report describe regression of AN associated with successful treatment of type B insulin resistance.
