Infantile hemangiomas are the most common tumor of infancy. Most follow a well-described natural history of proliferative growth in the first 9 to 12 months of life, followed by slow involution, which may take several years or longer. These authors performed a retrospective review of 23 infants (18 girls) with hemangiomas that had a distinctly prolonged growth phase (growth after age 9 months or rebound growth after treatment beyond 1 year of age following treatment).
