Cutaneous Toxicity Associated with “New” Therapies: Rare but Possible

Asarch and colleagues report the cases of two patients with lichen planus–like eruptions linked to tumor necrosis factor-α antagonist therapy. Lichenoid eruptions developed in one patient receiving infliximab for treatment of psoriatic arthritis and in one patient receiving adalimumab for treatment of psoriasis. Symptoms in the first patient were managed with discontinuation of the infliximab and cyclosporine, prednisone, and topical corticosteroids. The second patient chose to continue adalimumab therapy, and her reactions mostly resolved with topical corticosteroid therapy.
