Blastic plasmacytoid dendritic cell neoplasm (BPDCN) is the new name given by the World Health Organization (WHO) to the disease previously known as CD4+ CD56+ hematodermic neoplasm. This hematopoietic tumor frequently has a leukemic dissemination and aggressive behavior; its characteristic phenotype includes cells positive for CD4, CD56, CD123, and TCL-1 (T-cell leukemia/lymphoma protein 1). Given new criteria and a better understanding of this hematopoietic neoplasm, the authors performed a retrospective review.
