Researchers studied the safety and efficacy of 20 mg of apremilast given twice daily for the treatment of moderate to severe lichen planus (LP) in 10 patients. This investigator-initiated, single-center, nonrandomized, open-label, pilot study1 included 12 weeks of treatment and 4 weeks of treatment-free follow up. The primary endpoint was an improvement of 2 grades or more on the Physician Global Assessment (PGA), and assessment was also performed by biopsy before and at the end of the treatment phase, as well as with photography.
