Perry Pickhardt is the premier computed tomography (CT) colonographer in the U.S., and, since his move to Madison, Wisconsin, several third-party payers there have initiated coverage for CT colonography screening. In this report, Pickhardt and colleagues describe their experience with CT colonography screening in the first year of coverage. Their standard protocol was to refer patients with large polyps (≥10 mm) for same-day colonoscopy; those with medium-sized polyps (6–9 mm) were offered immediate colonoscopic polypectomy or short-term CT colonography surveillance.
