The adenoma detection rate (ADR) — the percentage of screening colonoscopies in which at least one adenoma is detected — is the principle measure of the quality of mucosal inspection during colonoscopy. ADRs are associated with several factors, including withdrawal time. To determine whether ADRs might also be affected by time of day, researchers examined records for 9063 colonoscopies performed at a single center in 2006.
A total of 3619 colonoscopies performed on adult outpatients with adequate bowel preparation and complete colonoscopy but without prior colonic resection were included.
