In previous studies, magnetic endoscopic imaging (MEI) has not improved performance by experienced colonoscopists. However, use of MEI by trainees has reduced formation of loops in the colonoscope that can cause pain during the procedure and has increased speed of cecal intubation. Now, in the context of growing interest in unsedated colonoscopy, researchers explore whether MEI could improve the patient experience during that procedure.
