More Postcolonoscopy Cancers Attributable to Colonoscopic Versus Polyp Factors

Postpolypectomy studies have established several adenoma-related factors as predictors of advanced adenomas (e.g., adenoma count ≥3, location in the proximal colon, and presence of villous components or high-grade dysplasia). In these studies, the incidence of colorectal cancer (CRC) is too low to identify predictors at baseline colonoscopy. Now, investigators have assessed both adenoma-related and less-studied colonoscopic predictors for CRC in patients who had adenomatous polyps detected at a previous colonoscopy.
