Guidelines on postpolypectomy surveillance intervals after colonoscopy from the U.S. Multi-Society Task Force on Colorectal Cancer were updated in 2006 and again just recently. The new guidelines present supporting evidence that leaves most of the previous recommendations intact, with two exceptions.
The first is a recommendation that surveillance intervals be based on results not only from the patient's most recent colonoscopy, but also from a previous colonoscopy that identified neoplasia.
