At Long Last, a Cure for Poor Adenoma Detection?

Improving adenoma detection rates (ADRs) during colonoscopy has proven difficult. The most successful program to date entailed physician education and use of a timer during colonoscopy to target a total withdrawal time of 8 minutes (2 minutes for each segment of the colon; JW Gastroenterol Nov 14 2008). Other efforts have proven largely unsuccessful.

Now, investigators have conducted a randomized controlled trial of an endoscopic quality-improvement program (EQUIP) involving 15 staff endoscopists at an ambulatory endoscopy center.
