Because proton-pump inhibitors (PPIs) reduce the risk for bleeding in nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) users who are at risk for upper gastrointestinal (GI) complications, guidelines recommend that physicians prescribe concomitant NSAID and PPI therapy.
