Complex regional pain syndrome type 1 (CRPS I), formerly known as reflex sympathetic dystrophy, is a rare posttraumatic “pain-plus” syndrome comprising prolonged neuropathic pain, microvascular dysregulation, and neurogenic inflammation (typically, swelling and color changes) persisting after apparent recovery from limb injury.
