Traumatic spinal cord injury is infrequent, affecting 10.4 to 83.0 people per million worldwide, but strains the healthcare system and has serious physical and psychological effects. Soon after the injury, patients often request that clinicians provide a prognosis, both for counseling purposes and to design a personalized rehabilitation program. During rehabilitation, recovery of walking ability is a high priority for these patients.
