Primary dystonia is an idiopathic movement disorder characterized by sustained muscle contractions, repetitive twisting movements, or abnormal postures. When dystonia is severe and medications or botulinum toxin injections provide insufficient relief, deep brain stimulation (DBS) is considered an effective treatment option.
