The epidemiology of seizures and epilepsy after pediatric intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) is poorly understood for lack of prospective studies with clear seizure definitions and follow-up duration. Risk factors for ICH-related seizures and epilepsy have not been explored. These researchers prospectively studied 73 pediatric patients with spontaneous ICH (20 perinatal and 53 childhood) for approximately 1 year. The authors evaluated the incidence of acute symptomatic seizures (occurring at or within 7 days after presentation), remote symptomatic seizures, and epilepsy, and explored potential risk factors.
