Much publicity, but little research, exists on the psychological and behavioral impact of anabolic-androgenic steroid use. These researchers examined the association between self-reported anabolic-androgenic steroid use in adolescents and their self-reported involvement in serious violent acts — e.g., shooting or stabbing someone. The investigators developed multivariate models based on data on 6823 adolescents from the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health, which included three waves of data collected from 1994 to 2002.
